So fasten your seatbelts, friends, as we explore the various ways to travel around Ibiza.

Types of Transportation in Ibiza

Car Rental

For those who strive to be as independent as possible, a car rental is a big yes. There are tonnes of top-notch services around the island and most are genuinely great. Usually you can select your own pickup spot or even get them to deliver the motor to wherever you need it.

Or if you’re staying at one of our villas in Ibiza, just call the amazing concierge crew and they’ll sort you right out. Car rental here is perfect for exploring the entire island at your own pace or just cruising to the best beaches and parties in style.

Chauffeur Services

If luxury is what you’re after, a chauffeur service is the way to go. Ibiza is home to numerous high-end companies with fully certified drivers. You’ll be assigned your own professional who is on call day and night. Sit back, relax and let someone else do the navigating – you’re guaranteed to feel like the most important passenger around. With years of local expertise, your chauffeur can ensure you make the most of this stunning part of the Mediterranean.

*We highly suggest families with children to rent a car or get a private driver as this provides mobility, privacy, and the freedom to plan your day as an added bonus.

Taxis

Taxis are a popular and convenient choice for transportation when you want to head back to your accommodation after a long evening of celebrations. If you need a taxi, just give your hotel reception, villa manager or a taxi company a call and they’ll arrange a cab to pick you up.

You can also try flagging one down on the street, but be aware that if there’s a taxi rank nearby, the driver may not stop, and you’ll need to go there to get in the queue. Or try using TaxiClick, an app that lets you book taxis online. Unfortunately, Uber doesn’t exist in Ibiza so this is your best option if you’re looking for something similar.

Public Buses

Buses are a very popular and affordable means of transportation around sunny Ibiza. Be sure to have cash on you before hopping on a bus, as that is the only payment method accepted. Monthly travel cards can also be purchased, providing unlimited travel for a set fee. Typical fares range from €2 to €3.50 depending on your destination. So if you’re on a budget, public transportation is the way to go.

Water Buses

The water bus is truly a unique way to get around and is by far the fastest way to get to further destinations. With schedules running frequently from the crack of dawn till the late evening, you’ll be sure to catch one at any time of day. They offer routes to: Ibiza Town – Figueretas – Playa d’en Bossa; Playa d’en Bossa – Figueretas – Ibiza Town.

Trust us, in the peak summer season when regular buses are jam-packed and hotter than a sauna, this aquatic transport is an absolute godsend. And even if you already figured out how to get around Ibiza, we still think you should get on one of these because the panoramic ocean views are not to be missed.

Disco Bus

For those with a passion for late-night revelry and dancefloor adventures, the disco bus is here to keep the party alive until dawn! Operating regularly from the first of June through the last days of September, the disco bus joyfully connects the island’s premier party resorts to all the biggest superclubs until the early hours. Departing every half hour to 45 minutes, the ticket price of just €4 to €5 is an absolute steal compared to other options like taxis, especially if you’re travelling with friends!

But the savings aren’t the only advantage – the disco bus is the perfect way to get pumped up for a night of unforgettable fun. Meet new like-minded ravers, dance in the aisles, and feel the electric atmosphere as you pull up outside the glowing superclub destination.

Bikes and Scooters

For a more environmentally friendly and adventurous option, consider renting a bike or scooter. With dedicated bike lanes and scenic routes, cycling or scootering along the coast or through charming villages provides a unique perspective of the island. This is a great option for couples on a romantic trip and are craving for a little bit of adventure. Just make sure to wear a helmet and adhere to traffic regulations. Safety always comes first!

Ferries and Boat Trips

A ferry trip is a truly joyful experience to be had on this magical island. Ferries depart regularly from Ibiza Town port, located just 1.5km from the city centre and only a 10-minute drive from Ibiza Airport. Destinations include Dénia, Valencia, Barcelona, Palma on neighbouring Mallorca, and Formentera. Journey times range from 25 minutes up to 8 hours, depending on your chosen destination. It’s the perfect opportunity to combine travel plans with relaxing at sea, taking in the splendid coastal scenery along the way.

Private Boats and Yachts

Now, if you’re looking to really see Ibiza in style, why not rent a private boat or yacht? This is the true epitome of luxury living in Ibiza. You’ll have the flexibility to stop wherever you please to admire the views or even take a dip in the crystal clear seas. As the captain of your own vessel, you won’t need to stick to any schedules and can set your own pace to fully unwind and enjoy everything the island has to offer from a whole different vantage point.

What are the Travel Regulations in Ibiza?

When visiting Ibiza, there are no specific entry requirements. However, it’s worth noting that your nationality may require a visa to enter Spain and Ibiza.

Travellers from the UK should also be aware that after Brexit, they can only remain in Spain and Ibiza for a maximum of 90 days within a 180-day period without needing a visa.

The best thing to do is check the current visa rules and entry regulations before your Ibiza trip. Doing so will help ensure everything goes smoothly when you arrive and that you avoid any issues at immigration.
